Association of visual artists Spektar, Kostolac
The Association of visual artists Spektar, Kostolac, was founded in 2011, with the goal of promoting visual and applied arts and present the artistic content of Kostolac, as well as the landmarks located in these areas.
Promoting the visual arts of this mining town and integrating art as a part of life is something the association strives for by organizing art colonies, workshops, exhibitions, lectures on art, presentations in other cities, collaborating with other associations in the country and abroad, collaborating with poets’ associations, and more.
For the past 11 years, the Kostolac Association of Visual Artists “Spektar” has organized the International Art Colony “Kostolac,” which takes place from August 1-6 to celebrate Miners’ Day. Artists from both Serbia and abroad have participated in these colonies.
The Association leads the art colony “Ostrovački Bećarac” every year from the beginning of this event when the art colony was included in the program.
They also led and organized the art colony “Bohemian Quarter” within the Ljubičevo Equestrian Games in the city of Požarevac.
In 2018, they held a large exhibition and published a prospectus to mark 10 years of the Kostolac art colony, featuring paintings created over the 10-year period of the “Kostolac” art colony.
The Association holds its regular exhibitions on the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8) and “November Days of Culture.”
The society often takes part in the education and art workshops have been held in the elementary school, kindergarten, and library in Kostolac with talented children. In collaboration with the Kostolac Cultural Center, a large workshop was held on the plateau in front of the sports hall in Kostolac, with around 60 children of different ages participating.
Members of the association have participated in several international competitions for exhibiting paintings such as “May Meetings,” Academy 28-Belgrade, “Women Painters” – Majdanpek, “City Museum of Railways Lapovo”….
The Association and its members have taken part in numerous exhibitions and often take part in charity work.
