CHRONOwaves is a captivating contemporary dance performance that will take place in the historical ruins of Tharros, Italy. This site-specific production blends the ancient grandeur of the archaeological site with the dynamism of contemporary dance, creating a mesmerizing and immersive experience for the audience.

The performance of Derida Dance Center explores the concept of time and its cyclical nature. The dancers move with fluid grace, their bodies seemingly defying the constraints of gravity and the passage of time. The choreography is a harmonious blend of classical techniques and contemporary, abstract movements, captivating the audience with its emotional depth and physical prowess.

Throughout the performance, the dancers interact with the architectural elements of the ancient site, using them as props, platforms, and sources of inspiration. The interplay between the human form and the weathered, historic structures creates a powerful visual metaphor, inviting the audience to reflect on the enduring relationship between humanity and the passage of time.

The performance is further enhanced by the use of  natural lighting and original musical compositions, which amplify the ethereal and otherworldly ambiance of the event. As the dancers move through the ruins, the audience is transported to a realm where the boundaries between past and present, movement and stillness, are blurred and reimagined.

CHRONOwaves in Tharros is a testament to the power of site-specific contemporary dance, seamlessly integrating the rich cultural heritage of the location with the artistic vision of the performers. This unique and captivating production will leave a lasting impression on all who witness it, highlighting the profound ways in which the arts can intersect with and illuminate our understanding of history and the human experience.

Jivko Jeliazkov is a choreographer, theatre director and co-founder (together with Atanas Maev) of the first contemporary dance center in Bulgaria – Derida Dance Center. He is Artistic Director of Derida Stage. In 2018 he was ranked one of the Top20 choreographers in Europe in the rankings of the largest contemporary dance platform in Europe “Aerowaves – dance across Europe”. In 2017 he was awarded ICARUS for the contemporary dance performance “S INNER”.  He is a choreographer and director of more than 40 shows, performed in different festivals in Europe, Asia and Canada. Jivko Jeliazkov is artistic director of a number of European projects.
