Workshop 2 – 420PEOPLE in Viminacium
From 24th to 27th of April 2025, the Polish Dance Theatre (PTT) returned to Viminacium Archaeological Park for their second co-creation workshop within the Dancing Histor(y)ies project.
The residency was organized by the Institute of Archaeology. During their stay, Polish Dance Theatre held workshops with Dance Club Royal (Požarevac), Amadeus Dance Club, and the Gallery of Milena Pavlović Barili.
The program began on April 24th with the arrival of the company and a series of dance rehearsals with Dance Club Royal, engaging local children dancers in movement exchange, inspiration sharing, and preparation for upcoming performances.
On April 25th, the company held further dance rehearsals in Požarevac, combined with a meeting with the Polish Embassy, followed by a guided tour of Viminacium. The day ended with an extended evening rehearsal with Dance Club Royal, continuing the knowledge transfer between professional and local dancers.
The third day, April 26th, expanded the co-creation process with a meeting at the Gallery of Milena Pavlović Barili with artist Violeta Marković, exploring local artistic inspiration. This was followed by PTT’s internal rehearsals and collaborative sessions with Amadeus Dance Club, where children dancers once again participated in knowledge exchange and creative practice.
The workshop concluded on April 27th with the group’s departure, leaving behind a strong sense of intergenerational collaboration and cross-cultural dialogue between the Polish artists and the local community.
