Workshop 1 – Polish Dance Theater in Viminacium
From 27th of February to 2nd of March, the Polish contemporary dance company Polski Teatr Tańca visited Viminacium
The workshop was organized by the Institute of Archaeology, with support from local organizations: Society Fortuna, Amadeus Dance Club, Dance Club “Royal”, Music School Stevan Mokranjac, Elderly home Homoljski Raj and local cultural institutions.
This was PTT’s first encounter with Viminacium, and they immersed themselves not only in the archaeological site but also in its wider surroundings. Their program included guided tours of Viminacium and Požarevac, storytelling discussions with archaeologists and the local community, as well as visits to the Milena Pavlović Barili Gallery and the local music school for inspiration in choreography, music, and costumes.
In collaboration with local partners, PTT held several co-creation activities — from storytelling workshops with elderly citizens to dance and movement sessions with local dancers and members of Society Fortuna. These encounters explored the festival’s themes of age gap balance and accessibility, ensuring the upcoming performance will be deeply rooted in local stories and shared creativity.
