The Dancing Histor(y)ies Model
A shared roadmap for bringing heritage to life through movement and community.
Developed and produced with the cooperation of all partners, and written and edited by Cyprus University of Technology, the Dancing Histor(y)ies Model is a values-based framework for engaging cultural heritage through performing arts, inclusion, and territorial development.
At its core is a strong commitment to participation and inclusion, inviting local communities—young people, older adults, people with disabilities, and groups at risk of social exclusion—to take part in artistic creation, workshops, and off-festival activities.
🌀 Dance + heritage + people = living heritage.
Grounded in local needs analysis, field research, desk research, and EU-level best practices, the DH Model adopts a value-based approach, recognizing that cultural heritage gains meaning through the diverse values people attach to it. By balancing everyday use with expert protection, the model encourages sustainable, inclusive, and socially engaged cultural production.
Designed for artists, cultural operators, institutions, and organizations working in heritage contexts, the DH Model offers inspiration and practical guidance for those who believe heritage is not static—but lived, shared, and performed.
