Pula Festival Programme
In the breathtaking setting of the Archaeological Site of Nora, the Dancing Histor(y)ies Festival invites audiences to experience how ancient landscapes, contemporary dance, and local communities intertwine. Between 3 and 8 August 2025, the stage by the sea becomes a living dialogue between past and present — between the stones of history and the movement of today’s artists.
The programme brings together three remarkable European dance companies, each interpreting heritage, memory, and ecology through their own artistic language:
ilDance (Sweden) – Under the Gemlike Eye of Venus (3 August)
A poetic exploration of time inspired by Sardinian writers Grazia Deledda and Giangavino Vasco, this performance reflects on the ways stories shift and transform across generations, blending movement, text, and original music into a meditative journey.
420People (Czech Republic) – As a Cloud Above the Sea (6 August)
Inspired by the words of Grazia Deledda — “One must try to live above one’s life, as a cloud above the sea” — this piece celebrates the delicate balance between humans and nature, merging live music, dance, and the vibrant ecosystem of Sardinia into a sensory dialogue of memory and environment.
Derida Dance Center (Bulgaria) – Shell of Silence (8 August)
Centered on the symbol of the tortoise, this powerful work confronts the ecological crisis with urgency and beauty. Drawing from Deledda’s writings, it transforms art into a call to action — urging care, awareness, and responsibility toward the natural world.
Through these performances, Dancing Histor(y)ies bridges ancient and modern worlds, celebrating not only dance and heritage but also the living traditions of Sardinia’s communities — its stories, crafts, and food culture. Audiences are invited to reflect, connect, and take part in an experience where art becomes both a celebration and a commitment to the environment and shared memory.
