Polish Dance Theater in Castell Sant´Angelo

From 27th to 29th of March 2025, the Polish Dance Theatre visited Rome for their first co-creation workshop within the Dancing Histor(y)ies project.

The residency was organized by I Borghi, in collaboration with MSPD Studios, Crdl, Pd Artmedia, and Mvula Sungani Physical Dance.

The program opened with site visits and space inspections at Castel Sant’Angelo, the Auditorium Conciliazione, and San Pietro, giving the artists the opportunity to explore venues, history, and local context for potential performances.

On the second day, the company met with the production team at MSPD Studios to discuss working approaches and logistics. This was followed by a community workshop with youth from disadvantaged localities, offering direct interaction and creative exchange through dance and movement. The day closed with an artistic festival meeting, focusing on co-production and coordination for the upcoming events.

The final day was dedicated to perfecting activities and production strategies alongside partners, followed by another community workshop with local youth groups, ensuring their stories and perspectives were woven into the creative process.

Through these encounters, the Polish Dance Theatre established strong ties with both local institutions and communities, laying the groundwork for a performance rooted in collaboration, accessibility, and shared cultural heritage
