Dancing Histor(y)ies – Final Event in Mérida Celebrates a Two-Year European Journey

On 13 November 2025, the National Museum of Roman Art in Mérida hosted the Final Event of the Dancing Histor(y)ies project, marking the culmination of a remarkable two-year collaboration in which ancient sites, local communities, and contemporary dance came together in a shared creative dialogue.

This closing gathering brought together all partners of the international consortium to celebrate the project’s achievements—strengthened cross-border cooperation, inclusive cultural practices, and innovative ways of reinterpreting European heritage through movement.

Dancing Histor(y)ies – binding communities and heritage through dance has shown how contemporary dance can open doors to hard-to-reach communities, creating new forms of storytelling rooted in place, memory and participation. From Italy to Serbia, Spain to Sweden, Bulgaria to Portugal, the project has empowered local groups to rediscover archaeological landscapes through artistic expression.
