420PEOPLE in Nora and Barumini
From 9th to 11th of April 2025, the Czech dance company 420PEOPLE visited Sardinia for their first co-creation workshop within the Dancing Histor(y)ies project. The residency was organized by Associazione Enti Locali per le Attività Culturali e di Spettacolo, in collaboration with Fondazione Pula Cultura Diffusa, Ottovolante Sulcis, and CEAS Laguna di Nora.
The program opened on April 9th with a visit to the Archaeological Site of Nora, focusing on the site’s history and legends. This day included opportunities for the artists to capture video diaries and reflect on their artistic approach, connecting heritage with creative inspiration.
The second day brought the company to Sant’Antioco, where they met with Stefano Manconi and the Ottovolante organization for musical inspiration and dialogue with local musicians. The day concluded with video documentation sessions and a debrief moment, collecting participant feedback and evaluation.
On April 11th, the program turned toward nature and sustainability. A canoe excursion through the lagoon waters introduced the group to biodiversity, fishing traditions, and environmental protection. This was followed by educational trails at the CEAS Laguna di Nora, where the company learned about marine biology, cetaceans, and sea turtle rescue efforts. The day included evaluation and reflection moments, video diary sessions, and a shared dinner in Cagliari.
Through these days of activities, 420PEOPLE connected with archaeological heritage, local communities, and environmental contexts, laying the foundation for a creative process that bridges mythology, ecology, and contemporary dance.
